About meI've been delivering personal development and lifestyle support to high performance athletes since 2006. I currently provide individual and group support to TASS and Sports Scholarship athletes at the University of East London on a consultancy basis, and deliver group workshops to a variety of high performance athletes, coaches and parents in the UK and Ireland. I tutor on the TASS Athlete Personal Development and Lifestyle course, and in 2018 I set up the International Lifestyle and Personal Development Practitioners' Forum.
I have been involved in the sport of athletics since the age of 14. The highlight of my sporting career was competing for Ireland at the 2004 World University Cross Country Championships, during the final months of my PhD study. My history of competing at a high level while maximising my academic potential and undertaking voluntary club captaincy roles, places me in an excellent position to help both athletes and students manage their busy lives. I graduated with first-class honours in Sport and Exercise Sciences from the University of Limerick in 2001 and completed my PhD in 2005. I recently completed 3D Coaching's Transformational Conversations course and am currently working towards AC Coach accreditation. I hold a 1st4Sport Level 3 Certificate in Talented Athletes Lifestyle Support, am a UKAD Anti-Doping Educator and a Mental Health First Aider. I have published Personal Development Coaching in Sport: a guide for practitioners (2023) and Notes from higher grounds: an altitude training guide for endurance athletes (2013) through my publishing lable, Kukimbia Huru Publishing. But I am more than a practitioner, a tutor, an athlete, a graduate or a writer. I like to crochet, walk, travel, explore and read. On a good day, I'm a passionate, enthusiastic ball of energy. But I'm also introspective, shy and not afraid to show my vulnerable side. I try to be authentically me, but that me is ever growing and adapting. I enjoy exploring who I am and what I stand for, and revealing those new layers to myself and others. |
